The history of the hotel began in the early 1946. It was then, when based on the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of RSFSR “Rossiya” sanatorium was established. As the years went by the after-war hospital turned into a popular place of vacationing for the honored soviet citizens. Up to 1950 the sanatorium was completely finished and equipped with modern facilities
In 70-ties “Rossiya” becomes the favourite vacation spot of the party elite, the resort is visited by famous people, popular cinema actors and heroes of labor.
It’s a well-known fact that Yuri Gagarin the pilot-cosmonaut, hero of the Soviet Union, world’s most famous person, loved staying at “Rossiya”. He swam much, went fishing to Krasnaya Polyana, recuperated and relaxed in the fascinating garden of the hotel. It was the time of dynamic development of international exchange and “Rossiya” was visited by foreign guests from Germany, Poland, Canada, Finland and Czechoslovakia. The health resort was qualified as international one. Sanatorium was partially reconstructed – the beach is equipped with shower cabins, bathing-boxes, slot-machines with carbonated water. They began to build a new pavilion for remedial gymnastic.
On the 11th of June 2006 the SPA-hotel was totally reconstructed, equipped with the cutting-edge technologies and got its incomparable style and atmosphere of a splendid de Luxe hotel. Textile decorations were designed by Suzanne Loggere and Patrick Brugman, court decorators of Beautrix of the Netherlands. A gorgeous night restaurant “Black Magnolia” is a real pearl of the hotel. Noble silver and filigree pattern of modena French Metaphore and Verel de Beleval textile make its unique interior. Besides the luxurious interior the hotel got a new status of a boutique hotel, a new philosophy of international level and a brand new name -Grand Hotel & SPA Rodina.
